Under 13 Girls
The newly formed Girls Colts Section was a great success last
season and was well attended right through the summer. The
girls progressed well and, with this in mind, this season we have
entered Girls West Sussex Under 13 League. This league plays
mainly at the week-ends with a soft ball. We will play 8
games against other all girl teams in the Sussex area and 4 of the
games will be played at the Steyning Ground, subject to pitch
availability. We have also entered the Lady Taverners Under
13 Tournament which will be played at the Steyning CC on Sunday
June 20th, this will be played with a soft ball. Training:
Fridays 6:30 pm until 8 pm starts 30th April 2010 until 27th August
2010.
New members are always welcome and any girls over the age of 13
are welcome to train with us and we will endeavour to find games
for them with the Ladies or other age groups. Mums wishing to play
or just wishing to brush up on their cricketing knowledge are
welcome to come along to the Ladies training night Wednesdays 6.30
- 8pm at the Steyning Ground. If you are able to spare a few
hours to help on Friday evening training 6:30 - 8pm please give me
a call - Dianne White, 01903 814712 or 07773 348688.
National Clubmark Award
This has
been a year of significant success for Steyning Cricket Club - not
least achieving the national Clubmark award.
Clubmark is highly prestigious, and is only awarded to Clubs
which can demonstrate the highest levels of performance and conduct
in all aspects of running their affairs both on and off the field
of play. Our approach to the safety, welfare, and development
of young players has been singled out for high praise by the Sussex
Cricket Board.
Achieving Clubmark accreditation opens new doors for the Club -
including access to external funding and resources for our further
growth and development. A very recent example is our
eligibility to exchange Sainsbury's "Active Kids" vouchers for new
cricket equipment. So please get collecting - and give them to your
age-group manager!
We need to maintain these high standards in the years ahead - and
ensure we implement all the aspirations set out in the Club's 5
year Strategic Plan. So, in a sense, Clubmark is the start of a
journey for the Club - not its final destination.
